Joan was born in East Finchley on March 20, 1936.  She was the only daughter of Anne and Walter Speck and sister to Dennis, Ronnie and Colin.  She married Sid on August 17 1957 at the age of 21.  Together they had had four children, Debbie, Tina, Tracey and Steve.  They continued living in Muswell Hill until March 1977, when they moved to a bigger property in Edgware.

During the past few years, Joan has suffered with COPD, which unfortunately was the reason for her passing on July 26 2019.
